Just today Thursday 2017-10-04 my brother and I and friend were there for breakfast we got there at 930am had breakfast. Sat there till 12:15 when Kay asked us to leave and told us it's because the girl working that table was down a table because we were there. Mind you the place was not crowded, there were 4 empty tables right next to us and about 6 plus I'm the main dining area, but Kay told us that was another girls table. What should that matter to the patron. I'll have you know we have been going there for 30 years since they were in Patchogue. My brother and his wife are there 2 times a week for almost the entire 30 years. If you consider the amount of time we were there, the most the waitress could have lost on the high end was 20 bucks for 2 seatees that we stayed there for, so for 20 bucks she had to taint the relationship. Instead she could have covered that proposed loss or just give that waitress one of the open tables.
Not sure how this place has so many positive reviews. Food is mediocre at best and service is terrible. The waitress had a cold and was wiping her nose as she took our order. When we finally received our food we asked for mustard. By the time we got it half of our party was done with their meal and the sandwich was cold. We ended up leaving and expressed our dissatisfaction with the cashier. Instead of pulling the waitress aside she screamed for her to come over and told her we were upset. Talk about mortfying. To make things even more uncomfortable the manager/owner walked over and had us repeat our concern again and Instead of offering To take off the sandwich she charged us for half since we "ate half." Ill never visit this establishment again, there are much better diners with better food and customer service.
Medium-sized menu by Long Island standards (about eight pages), food was pretty good, but not the absolute best of the available diners within a twenty minute drive. The Challah bread French toast is my favorite breakfast food here and it's not a bad meal any time of day.
I am giving them five stars. The food is always fresh and delicious. Staff always pleasant and professional. There is also no waiting time even though the place is always busy.
There are other diners out there. Try another!
Clean place. Very friendly. I had this at 5 stars but pulled it to one!!! Here's why:
Shame shame on Kay. She represents her mother and fathers business and her brother Spiro and the good will.
Moved to Long island 10 years ago in those 10 years we have been to different diners all over Long island. Moriches Bay Diner is absolutely the best diner. The food is awesome and the prices are right, The staff is also great. I only had one bad experience with a staff member who seats the people coming in. I was waiting for some time to be seated and in walked in this couple and just took a table because they knew him. The employee saw how pissed off I was that in the 10 years I have been going there it has not happened again. Staff is very attentive and the owners or co owners also welcome and ask how you are doing and if the service is going fine. The place is clean, always clean, and it was just recently upgraded as well. It is always packed so come early or you will have a good wait time. Packed place is a good thing, it means its that good. Yes I give it 5 stars.
